About Us

Mutton Cove seen here in the 1890's is the present site of the Knight Surplus Store. The Apex roofed building in the centre of picture is the Barracks Site and North East of it was an Ammunition Production Unit. Knight Surplus occupies the old Stable Yard and the access ramp leading to the Old Barracks.

Knight Surplus Store has been owned and managed by the Knight family after Its conception in 1898 by Harold and William Knight who were in the Removal trade using horses for their mode of transport and also in Marlborough Street, Devonport, Plymouth, ran a General Food Shop.

Then being asked to move Ammunition and Rum Barrells for the Navy invited their sons to join them and started the H & W Knight Surplus Stores and the rest is now history, now turning over many tons of Government Surplus Equipment and Civilian Stock. We do hope you can find something of interest in our store and of course you will be always welcomed by myself David, Family, and the sales team.
